TOURS IN EUROPE

France and Belgium

Paris must be our number two start point ( after London), for itself and for day tours to Versailles, and Vaux-le-Vicomte ; Fontainbleau; Monet's garden, Giverney; Chartres; Champagne and even the Loire Valley. Normandy and the D-Day landings beaches can be reached out of Paris or London, but in both cases as longer tours. The Channel Tunnel means that Paris (and Brussels) can be a day tour out of London by the Eurostar train. The (car) Shuttle on the other hand is best for Normandy. As we have Paris based guides as well as English based ones, we can cover every possibility.

Italy and the Mediterranean

Italy has the highest number of the worlds greatest sites on the UNESCO list, most of which are accessible from the sea, making them natural ports of call for cruise ships.
The best way to appreciate cruise stopovers is not with the group tour but with your own local guide, possibly on a driver-guide basis, but certainly to be met at the port and brought back in the evening. That is the best way to see Rome, Florence, Naples (with Pompeii nearby) and Venice. Here guides are a must as the charm of Italy comes with chaotic traffic and very confusing street layouts, and in case of Venice canals. This is even more true of Athens, where the street signs use the Greek alphabet, and of course Istanbul the most evocative but perhaps somewhat mysterious.

The Iberian peninsula has Barcelona, the regional Spanish capital of Catalonia, with its Art Nouveau architecture on the Mediterranean side and is included on most Mediterranean cruises. Lisbon is on the Atlantic but also a port of call for some cruises and again well worth a special tour.

Rest of Europe

For other areas of Europe we are best placed to do long tours, ideally starting in London ( or its airports) or from Paris. On long tours our guides need to be good companions who are also good at making the tour seem effortless and stress free while ensuring you discover new and hidden treasures of old Europe West, Central or even East.

The Price List does not cover these tours as they tend to be on a very much more "tailored" basis, but can be easily provided on request.
