Children's
Tours
N.B. All below
have entrance charges.
The Tower
of London is always a favourite with its tales of murder,
kings and queens, and famous prisoners. The Crown Jewels are the
greatest attraction to the Tower, but there are also wonderful
suits of armour. Climbing up on the battlements is a great way
to stretch legs and exercise, and with luck see a display of sword
fighting.
HMS Belfast
is a 2nd World War battle cruiser, which last saw action in the
Korean war can be explored extensively.
London
Transport Museum with its collection of old trams, buses and
underground trains, delights all, particularly those who always
hankered to drive trains; they can try out the "tube"
train on a simulator.
Imperial
War Museum is a treasure house with its guns tanks and submarines.
The Trench Experience offers a feel for what it would have been
like to be a 1st WW soldier in the trenches of France and Flanders.
The Holocaust Museum is here, but that is not recommended for
smaller children.
The Natural
History Museum is one of the best loved museums of London.
Walk through the Dinosaur Gallery and experience the extremely
lifelike animated models of these extinct creatures. In the Earth
Galleries you can experience an actual earthquake ( but safely).
The Science
Museum, which connects with the Natural History Museum, is
truly amazing, much of it full of interactive devices and perfect
for children who want to get involved.
Above museums
are free, as are most other national museums.
It is recommended
not to attempt to do more than three any such visits in one day,
and stops to "stretch legs ", photographs, strongly
recommended.
